Perhaps not what I had initially set out to achieve and had imagined. The iconic "golden hour" light on sandy beaches, rickety fences and sun bleached shacks epitomised by the famous photographer Joel Meyerowitz, were sadly not on the menu! Typically we managed to time our visit to coincide with some of the highest recorded rainfall figures in Chatham after a 3-month drought. I’ve ended up trying out some new techniques with different levels of success. But the big “lesson to self” is that sometimes it’s good just to step away for a few months and your initial disappointment and revisit your images in a new light.
